How do I book an Interpreter?

How much notice do I have to give to book an interpreter?

We would prefer to have 2 weeks’ notice to book an interpreter which we would match to your needs but we realise that this is not always possible and can book an interpreter within 24 hours’ notice. This may result in a 3 hour minimum as 2 hour interpreters are at a premium.

Why do I need a 2 hour interpreter if my appointment is only 20 minutes?

The interpreters we use are freelance and as such have to guarantee their income.

They do this by charging out as a 2 hour or 3 hour minimum.

As a Deaf Person, do I have to pay for my support at work?

No, there is a fund held by the DWP (Department of Work & Pensions) which can be accessed to cover work related support. Please contact us to find out more.

I am a student @ University – can you offer me support?

As an agency we have been supporting students in further education for over 10 years. We can supply Support Workers, Interpreters, Electronic Notetakers and Language Support Tutors to best cover your needs.

Do you offer Deaf Awareness to corporate clients?

We can arrange for Deaf Awareness Training with qualified trainers specific to your company’s needs.

Why do I have to book 2 Interpreters?

Each booking is taken on its own merits. Where some meetings are relaxed and incorporate plenty of breaks others are full on. In such meetings the interpreters will work for 20 minutes and then hand seamlessly over to a co-worker. This will ensure the interpreter gives full and accurate information to the service user. The interpreter’s job of interpreting voice to sign and back again can be both physically and mentally exhausting.
