British Sign Language Interpreters
British Sign Language interpreters provide effective communication between Deaf and hearing people by interpreting from one language to another. When a Deaf person signs, the interpreter conveys the meaning of what has been signed to the hearing person in English. When a hearing person speaks, the interpreter presents the meaning of what has been said in BSL to the Deaf person. BSL/English interpreters are used by Deaf people whose first or preferred language is BSL, or those who use Sign Supported English (SSE), which is a combination of both BSL signs and English grammar.
